Astronomy can seem daunting at times and it’s hard to even know where to start after the simple and visceral pleasure of a clear, dark night star gazing. Lucky to Katja, NASA is literally 3 miles away from Google headquarters in Mountain View, California, so she could just walk right over and ask anything. Now looking to share her experience and knowledge, Katja will tell us about her project with NASA’s Mars Institute, Google Voyager, Street View and Brand teams. She will talk about her upcoming expedition with NASA scientists to the Devon Island, considered most similar to Mars surface. She will talk us through the use of Google Street view technology and NASA satellite imagery to draw parallels between the two planets, what are the things on Earth that are similar to Mars and how the scientist prepare for their trip to the Red Planet. She will touch on other collaborations with NASA Google worked on and what other opportunities are in sight for future planetary scientists.
